REDCap is a secure, web-based application for building and managing online databases. Using REDCap’s stream-lined process for rapidly developing databases, you may create and design databases using 1) the online method from your web browser using the Online Form Editor; and/or 2) the offline method by constructing a “data dictionary” template file in Microsoft Excel, which can be later uploaded into REDCap. REDCap provides automated export procedures for seamless data downloads to Excel and common statistical packages (SPSS, SAS, Stata, R), as well as a built-in project calendar, a scheduling module, ad hoc reporting tools, and advanced features, such as branching logic, file uploading, and calculated fields.
To get started using REDCap, click the Create New Database tab above to start building a new database now. Create a few practice databases, if you like, in order to get the hang of things before you begin to build your first official database for collecting real data. Don’t worry about mistakes as you build your database because you can always make changes to your database during the design process and even after you have begun official data collection. At any time, you can archive/remove a database if you decide you do not want to use it. There is absolutely no commitment.
