Dear BioMS user,
A new version of the Alliance Biospecimen Management System (BioMS, v2.0) will be released on February 18th, 2016. Although most of the look and functionality of BioMS v2.0 will be the same as the existing system for most users, there are in particular two new pieces of functionality that are designed to facilitate biospecimen collection for Alliance clinical trials: 1) The ability to request and track fulfillment of biospecimen collection kits; 2) The ability to submit supporting, electronic documentation to biospecimens registered in the system. So that you may become familiar with these and several other minor enhancements, there will be multiple BiOMS v2.0 training sessions offered, beginning the week of 02/15. While new training will not be necessary to use the existing basic functionality of BiOMS v2.0, note that after March 14, 2016 all requests for biospecimen collections kits will need to be made through the BioMS system, rather than calling, emailing, or faxing individual biorepositories. Therefore, we strongly encourage you to attend or review training materials with regard to requesting collection kits through BioMS, prior to this date.
Also note that due to the v2.0 upgrade, BioMS will experience a planned outage starting at 4pm CT / 5pm ET on February 18th, 2016, until 8 AM CT / 9AM ET on February 19th, 2016.
